Miss Universe 2012 was the 61st edition of the annual Miss Universe beauty pageant, held on December 19, 2012, at The AXIS in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The event was hosted by American television presenter Andy Cohen and Canadian model/actress, Alessandra Ambrosio.
The contest saw 89 contestants from all over the world competing for the prestigious title. In the end, the coveted crown was won by Olivia Culpo, representing the United States. She became the eighth American woman to win the title and the first since 1997.
The pageant had several rounds of competition, including swimsuit, evening gown, and interview segments. The contestants were judged by a panel of celebrities and former Miss Universe winners.
Aside from the main title, several special awards were also given out during the night. Miss Guatemala, Laura Godoy, won the Miss Congeniality award, while Miss Photogenic went to Miss Kosovo, Diana Avdiu.
